After eleven years examining pulsars for evidence of the elusive gravitational waves predicted by Einstein’s theory of relativity, a team of scientists at CSIRO have failed to find anything conclusive.
The existence of gravitational waves is relativity’s largest unresolved prediction.
Using the Parkes telescope in Australia, a team of astronomers led by Dr. Ryan Shannon searched for the miniscule time delays between pulsar signals that would indicate ripples in spacetime caused by gravitational waves.
I spoke to him about the research and what it means on 2SER’s the Daily. It’s located here !
